If you are using a GPS make sure the directions it gives you correspond with the directions on this page. GPS directions have gotten better but they have sent some folks on some very indirect and long routes.

From Asheville, NC
From I-240 take Exit 4A onto US 19/23 North (this road is also marked as "Future I-26"). Drive nine miles, then take exit 19A onto Hwy 25/70 toward Marshall, NC. After about 8.5 miles, the highway changes from four lanes to three. Blue Heron is located about 4 miles after this change. We will be on your left, at the intersection of Little Pine Rd., just before Mama's Country Kitchen. Our new address is 35 Little Pine Rd. Marshall, NC 28753.
From the North
Take I-26 East from Johnson City, TN. At Mars Hill, NC, take exit 11 onto Hwy 213. Follow Hwy 213 for approximately eight miles until you reach the junction with Hwy 25/70.Take 25/70 Nouth towards Hot Springs, NC. In about 4 miles we will be on your left, at the intersection with Little Pine Rd. Just before Mama's Country Kitchen. Our address is 35 Little Pine Rd. Marshall, NC 28753.
From the West
Take Hwy 25/70 South from Newport, TN through Hot Springs, NC. Our meeting place is on Hwy 25/70, 13.5 miles past Hot Springs. We are located just past Mama's Country Kitchen. We will be on your right, at the intersection with Little Pine Rd. Our address is 35 Little Pine Rd. Marshall, NC 28753.
DETOUR ALERT
If you are driving to Blue Heron from the west on US-25/70, be aware that the road is closed due to reconstruction of the Wolf Creek Bridge near the TN/NC line. The posted detour would take you on US-321 from Newport, TN toward Greenville and would add over 30
minutes to your trip. But there is a MUCH more direct route which adds no additional mileage (and actually improves the scenery a bit!)
As you are traveling southeast on US-25/70 into Newport and you come to the detour sign asking you to turn onto US-321, ignore it and stay on US-25/70. Continue for just over 11 miles (11.3) from that point then turn right onto SR-107. You will immediately cross a bridge over the French Broad River, then make the next left onto Fugate Rd.
Follow Fugate along the river for just under 5 miles (4.8) until you
rejoin US-25/70 (just past where the Wolf Creek Bridge is out) and continue on to Blue Heron.
Please be aware that Fugate Rd. is very narrow, and single lane in places. It is not appropriate for large vehicles. Take your time and drive safely.
