Join us in the mountains of beautiful Western North Carolina for the inaugural Asheville Beer Week, taking place May 25 through June 1, 2013-that's 8 full days to celebrate all things beer in Beer City, USA. Asheville Beer Week culminates at Asheville's third Beer City Festival on June 2. The mission is to celebrate that nectar known as beer-to taste many different styles of beer and variations on those styles; to pair beer with a smorgasbord of delicious foods; to learn about and explore beer in all its delectable complexity; and, most of all, to have fun drinking beer in the brewery-centric mountains of Asheville, NC. The "week" will include seminars, tastings, dinners, and other special events. More than 40 breweries are slated to appear at Beer City Festival already, and many others at events throughout Beer Week.
Organized by a beer-loving bunch of regional beer industry folks, Asheville Beer Week will offer a variety of events in and around Asheville.

Food and water are essential to wilderness survival. Abundant, nutritious edible plants grow in Western North Carolina each season, from berries and flowers to nuts and mushrooms. Be prepared to hike “off the beaten path” for a couple hours identifying and learning about a variety of wild edibles, including a few you wouldn’t expect. Bring a water bottle, wear long pants and bring a rain coat just in case. Limited to 25, this Survival Skills workshop (3 of 3 in the series) usually fills quickly… don’t miss out!

The first, largest, and most walkable tour of working artists' studios in the region, the River Arts District Studio Stroll takes place in 19 historic buildings along the French Broad River. There will be artists' demonstrations and hands-on activities throughout the weekend.
Getting to and around in the River Arts District is a breeze. Accessible by car from Downtown, West Asheville, and Biltmore Village, there is plenty of parking. Catch the trolley at Riverview Station or any of the stops listed on the map. An Information Booth is located at the 5-points intersection of Depot St. across from the Clingman Café.

The WNC Highlands Celtic Festival is a celebration of heritage. The event features Celtic music & dance by Scottish tribal powerhouse Albannach, international supergroup Rathkeltair, the Southern Highlands' own Cutthroat Shamrock, plus Marcille Wallis & Friends, Stirling Bridge, My Three Kilts, the Montreat Scottish Pipes & Drums, and the Moynihan School of Irish Dance. (Note: the latter four acts are all based in North Carolina.) There's also authentic Celtic and Regional Foods and beer by Western North Carolina's first microbrewery, Highland Brewing Company.
