French Broad River

Kids

wags and kids.jpgThe French Broad River is a great place for kids - whether it's their first time on a river or they have been rafting with the family for years.  The French Broad is a natural flowing river and different water levels provide a different experience just about every time.  Upstream of us, the section of the French Broad in Asheville is subject to plenty of sunshine, which means the water is generally warmer and more swim-friendly than many other whitewater rivers in the area.verticle kid.jpg

The youngest kids (4 and up!) can have their river experience on a float trip.  Splashing around and enjoying the scenery in Madison County, NC can be the perfect first-time experience.

Older, more experienced kids can also join in the fun on the rapids of Section 9 of the French Broad.  Though splashing around and enjoying the scenery are also parts of the trip on this stretch of river, paddling a raft or duck through rapids will likely captivate most of your attention.

Anyone who is old enough for a Section 9 trip may want to try out a duck.  Paddling a duck does mean that you're the captain of your own boat, and it can take more effort, especially for smaller folks, but there are options in which everyone can give it a shot - if the water levels are right.
